This coin was 'Presented for Outstanding Performance' by Major General Alfonso E. Lenhardt, Commanding General (CG), Fort McClellan, Alabama.  MG Lenhardt served as Fort McClellan's CG from 1994 through 1996.

On September 4, 2001, MG (Retired) Lenhardt he was appointed the 36th Sergeant at Arms of the U.S. Senate, becoming the first African American to serve as an officer of Congress.
