This coin was "Presented By" Brigadier General (BGen) Lawrence D. Nicholson, Commanding General, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade (MEB) from January of 2009 to June 2010.

2nd MEB became Task Force (TF) Leatherneck during the 2009–2010 deployment to Afghanistan for NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). In 2010, TF Leatherneck spearheaded the Battle of Marjah, the largest battle since the start of the Afghan Campaign.
