This coin was 'Presented for Excellence' by the Commander & CSM, 4th Brigade Combat Team (BCT) 'Long Knife', 1st Cavalry Division (1st CAV).

4th BCT, 1st CAV was activated at Fort Bliss, Texas on October 18, 2005 and Inactivated at Fort Hood, Texas on October 17, 2013.

Of the brigade’s 96 months in existence, 47 were spent during three deployments to Iraq and one deployment to Afghanistan. Thousands of soldiers deployed under the unit’s colors, and 38 paid the ultimate sacrifice.
