General Lloyd W. 'Fig' Newton served as the 3rd Commander, Air Education and Training Command (AETC), Randolph Air Force Base, Texas from March 17, 1997 through June 22, 2000.

General Fig Newton was the first African-American pilot in the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
