Lieutenant General (LTG) John E. Sterling, Jr. served as the Deputy Commanding General/Chief of Staff, US Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) from 2010 to 2012.

He served as TRADOC's Acting Commanding General from April 11, 2011 through April 28, 2011.
