General (GEN) J.H. Binford Peay III currently serves (since 2003) as the 14th Superintendent of the Virginia Military Institute (VMI).

General Peay previously served as the Army's 24th Vice Chief of Staff (1993 to 1994) and U.S. Central Command's 5th Commander of Chief (5 August 1994 to 13 August 1997).
